ROAD TO A SUCCESSFUL LIMS PROJECT

INTRODUCTION & ROAD TO A SUCCESSFUL LIMS PROJECT

In this second post I will go through slide 3 and 4 of my presentation for LabAutomation 2024 in Den Bosch (Netherlands).

The first post can be found through the following link:

In this post I will briefly introduce myself, my background and my current role as a vendor-neutral consultant-coach in the laboratory-informatics arena. Secondly, I will explain the "The Road to Success", I used in 60+ LIMS projects during the last 15 years.

We provide our services "worldwide".

SLIDE 3: INTRODUCTION

During the last 35 years, I have been active in several different laboratory and laboratoryinformatics roles. I founded two companies (LUFC LabConsultants and LIMS Academy) through which I provided vendor-neutral LIMS project management, -support and -coaching.

I guide laboratory customers along the "road to success" providing advice and hands-on support.

I can be hired for: Business Analysis , Process Analysis , Requirements Definition , Market Research and Solution Selection.

SLIDE 4: LIMS SELECTION "THE ROAD TO SUCCESS"

The LIMS selection methodology I used during in 60+ projects through LUFC LabConsultants.

In the next posts, I will present "experiences and lessons learned" during the different stages of the project using the "Road to Success" with the project-topics (1-10) as references.

These topics are not in random order and need to be completed in consecutive order. The outcome from one or more previous topics are in general needed to be able to successfully complete te following topics.

The Why (1):

Why would you do this project, what "problems" are solved? ROI: Costs (resources, time & money) and gains (resources, time&money) => A business case.

The What (2, 3 and 4):

What is needed to successfully complete the project; "To-Be" processes supported by LIMS; role LIMS in IT Landscape.

The Needs (5):

URS - (non-) functional requirements specification.

The Who (6):

Market Research Which solutions may fit the requirements.

The Best Fit (7):

Multi-step solution selection.

The success guarantee (8, 9, 10):

How to make sure the implementation end-result is covering all "essential" requirements to guarantee project success.

In the next post I will discuss challenges you might encounter along the way and what might happen if you don't follow the "Road To Success".

SO, STAY TUNED
